Your Design Style

How to find your style

This is often a huge stumbling block my clients are facing when we meet. Overwhelmed with scrolling through endless images of decorated rooms they have become more, not less, confused on what their design style is. Sound familiar?

To help keeps things simple, here are my three top tips to finding your style.

Back to basics

Taking an interior design quiz to see whether you favour a certain style such as traditional, transitional or contemporary etc can be a good place to start, but I like to take it right back to basics before jumping into this.

Determine your home’s mission statement

What is it that you want from your home? Do you work from home? Do you have children? Do you have pets? What are your hobbies? Is this your forever home? What furniture/accessories do you want to keep? Ultimately your lifestyle will determine a lot of your style choices from furniture, fabric, paint colours to patterns etc.

Showcase your story

From this we then have the tools to start building the big-picture concepts of your own style. A style which is unique to you rather than a specific type of style or trend. A style which showcases who you are, your life story, and leaves you room to play, evolve and showcase your ongoing story.

Let me know how you get on and happy decorating!
