Summertime Decor for the Home

The Mews Fabrics & Furnishings

Look no further than Annabel Haan’s beautifully created collection at The Mews Fabrics & Furnishings

After chatting all things interiors with Annabel, here are my top The Mews Fabrics & Furnishings must-have summer staples for the home.

When the sun shines…

Summer, to me, is such a restorative and happy time. The days are longer to enjoy, gardens are blooming, alfresco dining is a must and the fun of the event season is in full swing. When the sun shines in England there really is no place like it.

But what to do when the sun isn’t shining? Well, bringing that summer joy into your home can be easily created with the addition of fun prints and sunshine shades, and Annabel at The Mews Fabrics & Furnishings does this so well..

Tabletop

A quick way to transform a room is by adding a tablecloth. This cotton tablecloth in summer shades of yellow, pinks and green and featuring a coral like motif is a particular favourite of mine and is one I have in my own home.

Summer blooms

One sure way to brighten up your home is to fill it with summer blooms. These ceramic pots with bamboo type patterns in blues, greens and pinks have a fresh and fun appeal. I’m picturing them on a kitchen windowsill or countertop filled with geraniums or herbs. When you then want to set the table, simply add them as decorations.

Pattern and colour

I often encourage my clients to mix colours and patterns, and summertime is the season which I feel really lends to this aesthetic. A fun and not as daunting way to do this is with plates and platters. I enjoy collecting vintage and modern pieces and mixing them up to create different looks. What I love about Annabel’s ceramics (much like her fabrics) is that they have an almost vintage appeal. Decorated with hand-painted fruit, florals or bird motifs, in colour ways of vibrant greens and blue they feel fresh and modern yet all importantly still timeless.

Summer on a plate

To really show off a summer salad, consider a decorative platter plate like these stunning ceramic platters, which will add a touch of Mediterranean happiness to your meal.

This platter pairs so well with the painted bird motif dinner plates. I particularly love the on trend yet timeless vivid green and the rich Mediterranean burnt sienna shades.

My love for The Mews Fabrics & Furnishings comes from how Annabel carefully curates her collections. By mixing and matching her pieces you can create something that is a true reflection of your own personal style which can be enjoyed throughout summer and in fact all the seasons.
